Motor

Amlin and its predecessor syndicates have written motor insurance for more than 40 years. The syndicate has changed its name over the years but has always been one of the principal leaders of motor related business in the market.

Amlin underwrites a wide range of commercial motor fleet classes in the UK including coach, haulage, commercial vehicle, private car fleet, private/public hire and self drive hire via the Summit brand. As a statutory class of business our policy provides unlimited cover for Third Party injury liability with high limits for Third Party property damage dependent on the type of vehicle.

Brian Carpenter

Brian was appointed a Director in January 2000. He is head of the UK Commercial division of Syndicate 2001. Brian has held a number of prominent roles within the market including as a former member of the Lloyd’s Market Board from 2000 to 2002 and the Business Development Unit Board at Lloyd’s from 1997 to 2000. Brian is currently the Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Lloyd’s Motor Underwriters Association and as part of the Lloyd’s Training and Advisory Group.

Steve Williams

Between 1988 and 1995 Steve worked in the UK commercial new business team at Hogg Insurance Brokers focusing on broking motor fleet business in the London market. Shortly after the merger of Hogg and Bain Clarkson, Steve moved to Johnson & Higgins as Motor Fleet broker in their London team. The merger of Bowring and then Sedgwick to form Marsh resulted in promotion to Assistant Director and extended responsibility for broking the UK fleet account of Marsh into the London market.
